CAMERA Scholarships

Student Scholarships - Multicultural candidates who are graduating seniors at one of our CAMERA districts may be eligible for scholarships ranging from $500 to $1500.

Criteria - Applicant must have documentation providing evidence of acceptance into a college or university and must be pursuing a teaching license.

Additional criteria and requirements are included on the application.

Review Process - A committee of Camera members will review applications per the selection criteria

Mercedes Yupton, Substitute Teacher pursuing her Master’s in Spanish - 2022-2023 Scholarship Recipient

  • Mya Johanni

    Mya has successfully completed her first year as an Inclusive Education Major at Miami University.

  • Kennedy Curry

    Kennedy will be attending the University of Akron starting Fall 2024.

  • Taylor Evans

    Taylor is a two-time recipient of this scholarship.

2023-2024 Staff Scholarship Winners

  • Miyana Williams

    Miyana is currently an Administrative Assistant at Cleveland Heights High School. She is seeking her education degree from Cleveland State University.

  • Carmela Cooper

    Carmela is currently teaching Business and Marketing CTE courses for Akron Public Schools. She is furthering her education degree at Kent State University.

  • Megan Lysiak

    Megan is a Paraprofessional for Akron Public Schools. She is seeking a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix with plans to eventually obtain her Intervention Specialist license.

  • Sasha Strother

    Sasha is a building substitute for the Bedford City Schools who will be attending the Ohio State University to become a licensed educator.

  • Mitzie Ginn

    Mitzie is currently working for Akron Public Schools while also attending Kent State University to obtain her CTE certificate.

  • Marcus Green

    Marcus is currently an educator with the Bedford City Schools. He is planning to further his career goals as an educator, coach, and mentor.

  • Jamaya Greer

    Jamaya currently works as an Academic Success Tutor for the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District. She is seeking an education degree from Cleveland State University.

  • Christopher Madrigal

    Christopher is an Automotive Technology Instructor for Akron Public Schools and currently seeking his Master’s in Education from Kent State University.

  • Amber Ashton

    Amber is a Paraprofessional for Painesville Local Schools and is seeking to further her education career by attending courses at Lake Erie College.

  • Christopher Gleason

    Christopher is currently a CTE instructor for Akron Public Schools and also attending Kent State University. He is a second time scholarship award winner.

  • Mercedes Yupton

    Mercedes is currently a Substitute Spanish interpreter for Akron Public Schools. She is seeking an education degree from Kent State University.
